Fantagraphics launching new anthology, Now, not now, but in September
I really should pay more attention to Fantagraphics - as publishers go, they're often close to the ideals that I strive for with this site. They're a place where creators can just make what they want to.
An anthology series like "Now" is usually a weird sell, but also a great place for comic creators to just make whatever they want. They're a little weird because there can be tonal shifts all over the place, and so they're not really fit for sessions of sitting down and reading the entire thing, so I don't tend to be the biggest reader of them.
What is equally exciting yet mildly disconcerting is that there are no names I recognize in the list of creators. Comics seem to be more creator driven (at least when asking comic fans) than other media, and so here's hoping that the strength of Fantagraphics being a name people follow for that offbeat creativity will be an asset for them.
