Not satisfied with just TV option, Wayward also gets a board game
Designed by Jon Gilmour, co-designer of Dead of Winter and Outpost: Siberia, Wayward is a fully cooperative board game where players assume the roles of the comic’s heroes working together to defeat villains controlled by the game itself.
I'm just a little obsessed with Wayward, so I'm overjoyed to see that everything is coming up positive for them recently. They're optioned for a TV series (yes, I know it could spend forever in Development Hell), and now they're getting this game, which should increase their prominence in comic book stores.
My favorite part of this is that it's a cooperative game, which is the type of game I tend to prefer, rather than pitting everyone against each other. I'm not a huge board game fan, but that's my preference. They're also keeping Jim Zub and Steven Cummings involved in making the game, which was the same with the TV series, which is always a sign I like to see.
I've spent a little while working on a post about how Wayward is a bit of an underrated gem - I never hear it brought up in conversations about Image Comics - but it's looking more like that's not going to be needed. One less thing I'll have to write, but honestly, something I love is getting in front of more people, so I can't really complain.
