Lumberjanes finds director in Emily Carmichael, has a chance of escaping development hell
Even having just read a single issue of Lumberjanes, Lumberjanes: Makin' The Ghost Of It #1, I can tell why people are excited about the movie. At just the time that I thought that the big boom for nostalgia for the 80s was about to be replaced by the same for the 90s, this seems to be happening. It's not that it's something from the 80s, it just feels like something that might have been created then. I'm a little tired of comparisons to The Goonies, but it's also not wrong.
Of course, there is a Development Hell, and even movies with directors attached have the tendency to fall apart. Yes, Fox is calling a priority, but I will believe this once shooting starts. Still, it is good to see movement.
Also, I just have to mention something that was left out of The Wrap's report: Carmichael is one of the writers currently credited on the Pacific Rim sequel. I don't know what it means in practical terms, but I had to put it here.
